more free- / open- movement discussion
julien - podcast - long-ish - but worthwhile getting to the end.
sylvain -vlog entry -I believe that spirit has a lot more to do with this movement than the other two
ella - podcast mostly addressing FLOSS and it’s shortcomings - but it extends to a valid criticism of many of the other parts of the movement.
and another post from hugh - incidentally which I disagree with because imo it focuses overly on the outcome of the movement and not the motivation or the process. yes, the outcome is wonderful and important, but I think the DIY-individual part (what Sylvain called scientific spirit) of it is the key to understanding it.
I tagged everything so far with “openmovement+laika+discussion” but it seems that del.icio.us is again having problems with tag intersections.

yeah valid point - tho I am thinking more in terms of: how do we influence those outside the movement…specifically, how do we convince civic servants, ministers & media that civicaccess is important.
i don’t at all discount the internal spirit - which is not necessarily pragmatic motivation by any means.
rather what I am saying is that when you look at the whole system (ie human society within the earth,s ecosystem) I think the libre movement is important for very pragmatic reasons; regardless of morals, and regardless of what the internal motivations are.
