cocky

Ben Crulli, Ella and Soli were nice enough to come to a meeting I set up to talk about ISF portal page + social functionality. The were okay with the ideas that Boris and I came up with, and had some good suggestions / modifications.

I’m feeling pretty cocky about how things might work out in the next year.

I mean, by then we should have 30,000 of the most branché, early adopters in Montreal. I’ve been planning for this a long time (like 2 years) - and so have a couple others - like benoit and daniel lemay. We’re probably going to attempt to get our users to use from home - and then get them to extend that practice to their networks of friends/family and get them using from home. I have lots of (big) plans and i’ve been saving them for 18-24 months now. Soon to take them out of the bag :-)

I mean - what would *you* do if you had 30,000 users in Montreal, 150 organizations as partners, 10 volunteers network + sysadmins, and 5 coders. And you didn’t have to make a profit? Fun, eh? No - it’s not up to me since I’m no one’s boss - but I have a good chance of trying to come up with ideas and share them with people and get them to get excited about them.

I’m going to make up a word - UCIS. “urban-community information system”. It doesn’t really mean anything, becuase we’re just talking about the web, web services, and feeds- and the ISF software won’t actually *do* that much - but I’m hoping that once we extend to desktop users and also to other mobile platforms we can make Montreal a whole lot feed-ier / stream-ier / web-ier than it would have been. From city council on down - get them playing into the web ecology.

This would be fun to write up more properly, but I’ll have to do another version of it some other time.
