Dr. Ann Dale

I’m recruiting her to the free data team. she’s a keener and already into opensource. quote “I want to make it (her project) open source, accessible, easy to use, and beautiful”. sweet! Open stuff needs to get *a lot* more beautiful. That’s one of the main reason I’m excited by theyworkforyou - because the design and UI is so nice.

This is also the place to say that I’m still a fan of Tracey Lauriault. She’s going to be a big part of the stuff that’s going on over the next 10 years. Her main thing is liberating government data (civic geo-tagged info). I’m going to meet her and someone from Aga Khan Development Network for dinner tonight.

    Hi Michael
I’d be very interested to hear more about Tracey’s work on freeing government data. In an odd (or not so odd) synchronicity I was doodling with some ideas today for creating a Canadian based theyworkforyou type citizen information aggregator. The first thing that I realised was that the open technical capabilities are all ready to go, it’s the government data that would be the weak link in any project like this.

I’ve uploaded v0.1 (or really v0.01) of the idea for what this might look like onto Flickr. Blame too much wireless community thinking and watching the a motivating speech by Ralph Nader on citizen responsibility last night for this tangent.
