it's very true that 1) he figured out for himself why this was important (good thing because I never would have figured out some of the stuff he  talked about in that post) and 2) yes, his disclaimer needs to be said.   We both realize that this is *not* a new conversation.   What I am trying to argue is that recent growth of 3d environments (mmorpg's) as well as recent success and newfound confidence of the open source movement makes it especially relevant right now.</description>
