mad skillz

I fixed my laptop last night. When you powered on it would go straint to a grey screen. I took it apart, seperated the screen from the panels and discovered a loose cable. Plugged that sucker in, and voila!

My short-lived iBook dreams are over - but I’m re-psyched about getting Linux working on this puppy. right now it has RH but I never use it. Gotta replace it with something and get going on that.

I’m in Cabot Square right now - in front of Atwater Library. Just saw the latest chop-sockey flick by the guy that did Shanghai Soccer. Very good.

We just setup a wireles network here - part of the program by local business owners to “re-invigorate” the parc and this area of town (read: make the Natives go drink somewhere else). I understand the project - and I am actually for it in terms of encouraging other people to use the parc - but it’s still kinda weird. I’ve worked hard at trying to get some people from the Urban Planning departments in Concordia and McGill to examine what we’re doing and suggest some better ways to realize our projects. I’ve sought out feedback from Pops and we’ve worked a little bit with the Homeless Archives - but so far - we’re really doing this on our own, which is not ideal. Julian is a stagiere working with us doing his Bac in US at ConU -he’s being supervised by Alison. He’s great, but we really need some higher-level input.

I’m being bombarded with bugs flying around 2×2. I’m sure that to them it’s a romantic courtship - but it’s making me feel like a motel mattress.

Good stuff. I like the ease of your past few posts. Keep it up :)

If you’re feeling adventurous give gentoo linux a shot.

If you havent already, try contacting Prof. Pierre Gauthier (http://artsandscience.concordia.ca/GEOG/faculty/fm_faculty_index.html) at Concordia. I had him for a few Urban Studies classes a year or two ago, and he was great when talking about sustainability, revitalization etc. He worked on the Montreal Master Plan (a project that is revisted i think every 10 years by the city). If he cant help you directly, I am sure he can point you in a few directions. =)

Thanks Mina. that’s durn nice of you.

kelly - thanks for the pointer. I’ve talked to Gauthier already. He was interested, but it’s not directly his thing and he’s busy. I’ve actually talked to the heads of both of the Urb Studies deps at Mcgill and Con. I guess I should try the french uni’s.
