Executive Summary / Spastic entry

It’s getting so that I had 3-4 things I wanted to write individual entries on, but as I watch time slip by I’ve decided to whack them down here before I lose them.

Tuesday aft I got to hang out with some super cool guys. It was a pleasure to meet Martin in person - even if he’s been poking fun at me recently - on my own blog. Every one else had schmancy mac laptops - but I made due.

Then on Wednesday we had our first meeting of a group of people I pinged to discuss an alternative Concordia portal. Kind of a FUBU project giving web-tools to the Concordia community. Check it out. The people at the meeting were Johannes, Skrud, and Scott Prentice - who owns OurConcordia.ca. Leo Bissonnette, the Coordinator for Office of Students with Disabilities wasn’t able to make it.

It was a fantastic meeting and I’m very excited to have the chance to do some of the things with academics that I’ve been itching to do. I want a big-ol’ note-sharing, backchanneling, blogging, learning, social-software revolution to take over this school. Frankly, I think it will be easier than getting IleSansFil off the ground (not that I did that by myself - but that’s what was great about this meeting, that there’s already a very strong group). I think the core of a great project was clearly visible at this meeting. Now all we have to do is execute.

And then there was the ISF meeting. I met Benoit on the way over and he had our new server under his arm. Courtesy of MDCN. The always cuddly William Waites was there and I asked him some questions about Asterix and then proceeded to be too tired to be able to follow him properly. He’s been doing a lot of work on VOIP recently (and probably not so recently as well).

Last news = I set up (with Philippe’s help) Santropol as a hotspot the other day. And now it’s down again (according to the hotspot page). Sigh. Anyone want to go check the connections tomorrow? It’s right on top of the cashier’s booth -above the humani-tea (I know that some of you live fairly near - Actually - I bet 1/2 half of the people that read this blog live in the Mile-End/Plateau district).

To leave you:
I’ve been poking around Flickr a bit recently and I found a picture that Karl took that made me laugh at the end of a long day.
