a visit to the source

okay - another cutesy title - but meeting with Matt Westervelt and some of the other guys from SeattleWireless was very f***-ing cool. These guys are the ones that inspired the rest of the us into getting out there and making wireless groups in our own cities. Matt comes across as a personable and smart guy and he seems to be making a go of it with his company Metrix. Also he seemed to like the Dog - which was a relief.

Oh yeah, I also got an intro/explanation of OPN (a mesh network made of Other People’s Networks) -SourceForge page. And we spent a good 20 minutes talking (okay -I was listening, *they* were talking) about the right way to use jabber to do all kinds of cool shit at ISF hotspots. I have to get Matt to write a short email recapturing some of the points so that I can pass it to our smarty-pant developpers.
