CommentLogging / CommentBlogging
Boris gave me a hand by setting up my delicious “mycomments” feed to show up on the top right-hand side. I’m happy because finally I think the cool thing about this is to use it as a way of blogging, not only to keep track of my own comments. If you’ll notice, it’s set up so that if you leave your pointer on one of the links, the content of my comment shows up.
Seb explains it all better than me here. (you have to scroll down a bit)
And Robin has been up to cool stuff too. And it got picked up by slashdot (so jealous).
My favorite though is this guy. He talks about the “mycomments” thing and then he talks about Robin, “By itself, this is an interesting usage of del.icio.us, but combined with Robin Millettee’s durl service for monitoring del.icio.us URLs, or conceivably PubSub, some second order effects could kick in.”>
Of course he would have no idea that Robin and I are pals. I feel like Robin created Durl on this blog because of the comments he left here.
Update: trying this mycomments

Brian Del Vecchio [1] mentions tagging his comments too in this discussion [2].
Mike, you’re right about the motivation behind Durl [3]. It’s doing graphs and all sorts of neat stuff now too!

mike, del.ishing w mycomments tag is one thing of some interest, but the rss feed back to your site adds a new dimension, watch for it… 3 mo from now everyone will be doing it, I assure you.

Thanks Hugh. It think it’s totally interesting. However, I’m not sure that I want to put all of my comments on my blog. That’s why I created another tag “share”. Soon I will change the feed from http://del.icio.us/mtl3p/mycomments to http://del.icio.us/mtl3p/mycomments+public
And I really want to show the extended field on the page, not only show it through mouse rollover. On the todo list.

Wow, I never thought of trying something like that. Of course, I wouldn’t have known where to start, anyway, and I’m ridiculously lazy on updating my templates.
Um, are there directions somewhere on how to do this?

I’m doing it differently - Bopuc set it up for me so that it’s grabbing the html straight from del.icio.us - but it’s not necessarily a better way.

Just to make this properly recursive, I’m commenting on this post which contains a comment on my use of a del.icio.us tag to keep track of my comments. And then I’m going to tag it with the aforementioned del.icio.us tag.
So there!
Seriously, though, I hadn’t thought of syndicating ‘my comments elsewhere’ like you’ve done here. That’s clever.
Also, I found this post using the Old Skool trackback–my webserver referrer log.

That’s me - “clever”. No danger of being classified as “genius” though.
