Wifidog training a success!
Besides the fact that we spent the first hour trying to connect to the internet (turned out that the entire building was off-line due to network connectivity problems). There were about 10 people from ISF and 15 people from MLUG, MCLUG, and the UQAM mailing list. Thanks to Robin and Sylvain that did some promotion for us.
Briefly, the interesting thing is that most of the people didn’t come because they wanted to be volunteers. They came because of the free training on hardware and software that was new to them. And although it was more disorganized than we would have liked it, it was a success in terms of people getting useful information from the experts within ISF. I’m looking forward to the next training (sometime in the new year).
Congrats to Pascal that kept focused and gave a great training despite the difficulties!
I’ll post some pictures when I get them.
Also, I went to the Firefox party after. What was cool about that was that several people came to the party that had never gone to any other open-source events in Montreal. It was a real opportunity for them to meet the larger open-source community. I think that we (montreal OSS community) need more regular events like that to welcome people that aren’t in our groups and on our mailing lists.
