This Thurs @ gameCODE

The Montreal GameCODE Project and The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Concordia

is pleased to sponsor a lecture by

PROF. BERNARD PERRON
(Cinema, University of Montreal)

ìSilent Thrills in Silent Hillî

THURSDAY, November 11th, 2004
Library Bldg., Room 677
3:00 5:00 p.m.

Based on a book the author wrote about the first three games of the Silent Hill series (Konami, 1999-2003), this talk will deal with emotions (fear, terror, sadness). It will compare film and video games, in order to define three general types of emotions, with a focus on the most important of these from a gameplay perspective. Knowing that survival horror enthusiasts have a desire to experience fear as intensively and as abundantly as possible, this talk promises to be terrifying !!!

Bernard Perron is an Associate Professor of Cinema at the University of Montreal. He has co-edited (with Mark J.P. Wolf) the anthology The Video Game Theory Reader (Routledge, 2003). His research and writings concentrate on narration, cognition and the ludic dimension of narrative cinema; and on interactive cinema and video games.

WELCOME TO ALL
